Miami Dolphins: Mega-trade for Tom Brady was probably close to completion

Quarterback Tom Brady was close to a trade to the Miami Dolphins, according to a media report. According to the report, the Florida franchise’s plans were well advanced and the mega-coup was about to be announced until an unexpected turnaround occurred.

Munich/Miami – After a few weeks, Tom Brady had enough of retirement and announced his retirement. While the Tampa Bay Buccaneers immediately switched from rebuilding to win-now mode again, many franchise officials were left breathless at first, just like fans of other teams.

But the comeback of the star quarterback in Florida apparently did not go as smoothly as reported. The rumours about a possible move to the Miami Dolphins were more than just smoke and mirrors.

Back in February, “Pro Football Talk” reported that the Dolphins had made an effort to sign Brady, but no concrete details were given about how close the two sides really came to a deal. Miami’s new coach Mike McDaniel also dismissed the rumours as fables.

But a few weeks later, the speculation, grotesque at first glance, received considerably more fodder. According to a new report by “Pro Football Talk”, the Dolphins had worked out a concrete plan for “TB12” to take over the helm on the Dolphins’ field for a few years, while at the same time becoming an official within the franchise.

Miami Dolphins: Planning for Brady coup was probably far advanced

According to this, the Dolphins had a two-pronged plan for Brady. First, the superstar was to become a minority owner of the organisation. In the next step, the franchise reportedly wanted to set up a trade with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers so that the 44-year-old could also play directly for the Dolphins. The planning, as well as the first steps in implementing the coup, took place during last season, according to this report.
