The Las Vegas Raiders have signed quarterback Gardner Minshew on the first day of free agency.
The quarterback carousel is picking up speed at the start of free agency. Gardner Minshew signs with the Las Vegas Raiders. NFL insiders are unanimous in their reports.
He can earn up to 25 million US dollars (15 guaranteed). Minshew is likely to compete with last year’s rookie Aidan O’Connell for the starting job. For the Colts last season, Minshew recorded 3,305 passing yards, 15 touchdowns and nine interceptions
The 25-year-old O’Connell was only partially convincing in his debut season. He accumulated 2,218 passing yards, twelve touchdowns and seven interceptions. Minshew now brings a little more experience to the quarterback room.
Minshew just an interim solution?
At the same time, the length of the contract and the overall volume suggest that Minshew isn’t necessarily penciled in as the undisputed starter.
This is the 27-year-old’s fourth pro stop in the NFL after Jacksonville (two years), Philadelphia (two years) and Indianapolis (one year).
