Las Vegas Raiders: Josh Jacobs likely to set deadline for long-term deal – otherwise holdout

Josh Jacobs wants a long-term contract with the Las Vegas Raiders. Now he is reportedly setting a deadline for the franchise. If there is no agreement, it will probably come to a holdout.

In his fourth NFL year, Josh Jacobs finally broke through. Last season, the running back of the Las Vegas Raiders ran for 1,653 yards and twelve touchdowns and was selected to the Pro Bowl for the second time.

Nevertheless, the 25-year-old has not yet been offered a long-term contract by the Raiders. Instead, he was given the franchise tag that would pay him just over ten million US dollars in 2023.

Las Vegas Raiders: Jacobs likely to demand long-term deal

As “Fox 5 Las Vegas” reports, Jacobs is considering suspending training camp if the Raiders don’t offer him a multi-year contract by 1 p.m. local time Monday. That’s also when the NFL’s deadline expires, after which it is no longer possible to sign a new contract.

As the running back revealed on the sidelines of the “Hard Count Athletics Football Camp” organised by him, he is currently in top shape. “I went into the offseason with a good feeling. Not because of my performance, but body-wise. The whole offseason I didn’t have to rehab, I just trained,” Jacobs said.

Josh Jacobs and Saquon Barkley reportedly considering holdout

Jacobs isn’t the only running back to find himself in this situation, Saquon Barkley is feeling similarly. The Giants star also wants a long-term contract and is not afraid of a holdout at the beginning of the season, according to reports from the USA.

A few weeks ago, Melvin Gordon, currently a free agent, railed against the current situation of the running backs. It is “shitty”, according to the former ball carrier of the Denver Broncos.
