After owner Mark Davis had already spoken positively about Colin Kaepernick, his quarterback Derek Carr is now doing the same. Carr has nothing but words of praise for “Kaep. “
Munich/Las Vegas – It was a bit of a surprise when the Las Vegas Raiders invited Colin Kaepernick to an official workout at the end of May. It was the former Super Bowl quarterback’s first official workout since 2017.
Now, the starting quarterback of those Raiders, Derek Carr, has come out in favour of signing the 34-year-old.
Carr and Kaepernick know each other from back in the day
At a media roundtable on Tuesday on the sidelines of the Raiders’ signing minicamp, Carr said, “I can’t speak for everybody, obviously, but I know him and I know he would fit in very well here. “
The Raiders’ number four receiver said Kaepernick and Kaepernick have a history.
The two have a history together. Not only did they play in the same conference in college in 2009, they’ve spoken on the phone a few times before. “I remember him playing in college, then us meeting over the phone,” Carr revelled. “I tell you, I loved that time with him. You just love being around him.”
Earlier, owner Mark Davis made his case for a contract offer to Kaepernick. “If our coaches say they want him, we’ll take care of it,” he said in May.
Rumours have been circulating for weeks that Josh McDaniels’ team could sign Kaepernick to a contract and the official workout, where he was said to have delivered impressively, have further fuelled those rumours. Currently, Jarrett Stidham, Nick Mullens and Chase Garber are the other quarterbacks on the Raiders’ squad alongside Carr.
