Derek Carr says goodbye to the fans of the Las Vegas Raiders with pathetic words. The franchise is apparently already looking for a trade partner for the quarterback.
Derek Carr will be leaving the Las Vegas Raiders.
The quarterback said goodbye to fans on Twitter on Thursday afternoon German time.
“Raider Nation, I’m heartbroken that I didn’t get a chance to say goodbye in person. The last nine years here have been a rollercoaster of emotions,” Carr wrote, thanking fans for the love and support they had shown him and his family.
Earlier, NFL insider Ian Rapoport had reported that the Raiders were looking for a trade partner for the 31-year-old. According to Rapoport, the Raiders plan to make a decision on their future lineup at the quarterback position in the next few days.
Las Vegas Raiders: Derek Carr demoted from starter to reserve
The Raiders had surprisingly demoted Carr before Week 17. The longtime starter and franchise quarterback was suddenly only the number three playmaker behind Jarrett Stidham and Chase Garbers.
Head coach Josh McDaniels justified the move to Stidham at the time as “a good opportunity for a young player who hasn’t had a chance to show as much”.
With a record of six wins and eleven losses, the franchise from the gambling metropolis had missed the playoffs. Now those in charge are apparently planning a new start.
Carr wants to win the Super Bowl
And Carr is also looking for a fresh start. Speaking pathetically about his future, he said.
“The fire inside me to win a championship is still burning. No man can put it out, only God,” Carr wrote. He said he was now looking forward to a new team and a new city where he could chase his goal.
