After nine years, Derek Carr’s time with the Las Vegas Raiders is over. Now the quarterback apologises to his ex-team for his performances last season
For nine seasons, Derek Carr was the starting quarterback for the Las Vegas Raiders. In all those years, he missed only two games due to injuries and was also selected to the Pro Bowl four times.
Nevertheless, there were no great successes to celebrate. Only once did he make the playoffs, but he lost that game. The unpleasant separation followed last season. Carr found himself on the bench in the last two games of the season after deciding to move on.
Now the playmaker has apologised to the organisation, saying he did not show the best version of himself in his final season.
Derek Carr apologizes to Las Vegas Raiders
“They just didn’t get my best and it drove me crazy at the end of the year,” he explained, according to the Associated Press. “I just didn’t feel like myself and I feel bad for the Raiders coaches and players for that. “
Carr finished last season with the worst passer rating since his rookie season, and he also threw 14 interceptions.
Meanwhile, he blamed his end in the players’ metropolis on professional and personal challenges. He declined to comment on the personal ones, but the professional ones included learning a new offence after the departure of former head coach Jon Gruden.
In the new season, Carr will be the signal caller for the New Orleans Saints.
