Las Vegas Raiders: authorities drop charges against Davante Adams

Good news for Davante Adams. His shove against a cameraman in October 2022 remains without criminal consequences. But now the NFL could crack down.

Davante Adams can breathe easy – at least partially. A criminal charge of assault against the wide receiver from October last year has been dropped by the authorities, as “ESPN” reports.

At the time, the now 30-year-old had shoved a cameraman filming him at close range as he left the interior of the stadium after his team, the Las Vegas Raiders, lost away to the Kansas City Chiefs.

Civil suit pending

Adams had delivered the Raiders a chance to tie the game 30-30 with a touchdown with about four and a half minutes remaining, but the team opted for a two-point conversion on a running play that failed to reach the end zone, leaving the hosts with a narrow 30-29 win.

As “ProFootballTalk” speculates, there could now be disciplinary action from the NFL, as previously the league would not have wanted to interfere with an ongoing investigation.

The civil lawsuit by the victim of Adams’ freak-out – a man named Ryan Zebley – has no bearing on the league’s punishment process. Zebley is suing the wide receiver as well as the Raiders and Chiefs, according to “ESPN. “

Adams apology same night

He reportedly suffered whiplash, headaches and possibly a mild concussion from the incident.

Adams had apologised to him the same evening, explaining that frustration and the fact that Zebley had walked directly in front of him had been the reason for his reaction.
