Do the Baltimore Ravens have the NFL’s new “dream duo” in Lamar Jackson and Odell Beckham Jr? Former Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger thinks the two superstars are a good match.
Odell Beckham Jr. will be chasing touchdowns for the Baltimore Ravens next season. For many experts and observers, the decision to sign with the Super Bowl winner of 2012 came as a surprise, because it is still completely unclear who will be on the field as quarterback for the Ravens.
Lamar Jackson last made it official that he asked the franchise for a trade because the 26-year-old and the team could not agree on a new contract after tough negotiations. The Ravens then placed the franchise tag on the quarterback. So Jackson has at least one more year under contract in Baltimore. Whether he will actually spend it on the field, however, is not certain at this time.
Should the 2019 MVP decide to play, though, NFL legend Ben Roethlisberger expects a lot from the league’s new “dream duo.” On his “Footbahlin” podcast, the former Steelers playmaker said, “It’s a big deal. It’s a big boost for Lamar. “
Does the “OBJ” signing mask a weakness in Lamar Jackson?
“It definitely creates some potential opportunities for the offense and for Lamar to run when he needs to or make those big throws down the field when he needs to,” “Big Ben” continued.
Beckham’s impact would be greater if a motivated Jackson returns to Baltimore for the 2023 season.
The signing would give the Ravens a chance to mask a weakness in Lamar Jackson: “He’s got a huge arm, he can make something happen when he scrambles, but you don’t worry about him just standing in the pocket. “
