Kareem Jackson meets with NFL commissioner Goodell after new suspension

Kareem Jackson, safety for the Denver Broncos, has already received numerous penalties this season. Now he’s talking to NFL commissioner Roger Goodell himself about it

Broncos safety Kareem Jackson’s record this season is impressive. The 35-year-old has already recorded two interceptions on the field, but he is unbeaten in another category this year: penalties!

Jackson has already been suspended for six games this season for unfair behavior on the field. He was disqualified for two games. And he has been fined almost 90,000 US dollars for a total of four illegal tackles.

Most recently, Jackson was suspended for four games for an unfair hit on Vikings quarterback Joshua Dobbs. Due to the missed paychecks, which are paid out weekly in the NFL through Game Days, he has to accept salary losses totaling 837,000 US dollars in 2023 – so far!

Reason enough for the safety to speak to league boss Roger Goodell himself.

Talking to the Associated Press and other media outlets, Jackson said: “I see a lot of these actions happening around the league where guys don’t have to go through what I’m going through right now – no flags, no fines, no suspensions!”

Jackson feels unfairly treated

In his 14th NFL season, Jackson isn’t aware of any wrongdoing. His style of play wouldn’t have changed. “I’m not really sure why I’m being treated the way I’m being treated. I’m doing normal football actions, nothing bad in my opinion,” Jackson said. “I just want to know why I’m the only person going through what I’m going through right now. “

While Jackson’s suspension was reduced from four games to two after an infraction in week seven, the current punishment remains in place. An appeal to that effect was denied.

The league’s current rulebook is to blame for his penalties. “There’s no clarity, a lot of gray areas. I’ve asked the league a lot of questions and told them that I’ll end up in the same situations again. How should I play then or how should I deal with these situations? “

Expressions of solidarity for Jackson

“I hope something comes out of this meeting. But I don’t believe it because I don’t think they even know themselves.” He continued, “Right now, I feel like I’m the poster child for whatever they’re trying to get across or prove to us. So let’s see.”

During the Denver Broncos’ 29-12 win over the Cleveland Browns last Sunday, the first game of Jackson’s current suspension, his teammates wore shirts emblazoned with “Free KJack” as they warmed up.

Jackson is not allowed to enter Broncos headquarters during his suspension. He also wants to address this point with Goodell.
