Indianapolis Colts: Owner Jim Irsay with telling statements about Alabama quarterback Bryce Young.

Have the Indianapolis Colts decided how they’re going to move forward at the quarterback position? At a press conference, owner Jim Irsay made a telling statement about QB talent Bryce Young

Since the retirement of Andrew Luck, the Indianapolis Colts have had no luck at the quarterback position.

Indy tried free agents, draft picks and trades. Nothing helped. In the four years since Luck left, seven quarterbacks started for the Colts.

So a permanent solution is desperately needed, in part to give new head coach Shane Steichen a chance to rebuild the team.

On the sidelines of the press conference introducing Steichen, Colts owner Jim Irsay also talked about the Colts’ strategy for the draft, hinting at interest in talent.

Colts owner Jim Irsay praises Bryce Young

When asked if they would consider trading further back in the draft to increase draft capital, Irsay simply replied, “The Alabama guy doesn’t look so bad, I tell you.”

With that, the billionaire likely alluded to quarterback talent Bryce Young. The Colts are drafting at number four this year – so if they are targeting Young, a trade down would make less sense.

This year’s class of quarterbacks, however, is considered deep anyway, with four playmakers seen by experts as safe first-round picks.

Of the three teams ahead of the Colts, only the Houston Texans have a need at number two at the position.

Is a trade coming with the Chicago Bears?

If the Colts want to make sure they get Bryce Young, however, they would have to make a trade with the Chicago Bears.

This would also prevent another team from trading up in search of a quarterback, such as the New York Jets.
