Indianapolis Colts: General manager Chris Ballard takes blame for messed up season

The 2022 season of the Indianapolis Colts is a complete failure. The Colts have only four wins out of 17 games this year, plus several quarterback changes. In his final press conference, general manager Chris Ballard took the blame.

The mood in Indianapolis is at an all-time low.

The future at the quarterback position? Uncertain. The head coaching job? Open. Cap situation? Expandable. The 2022 season is a bust.

In his final press conference of the season, general manager Chris Ballard took the blame.

Ballard: “I failed “

At the media roundtable, Ballard said, “I failed. I’m not going to stand here and make any excuses either. I failed people,” the 53-year-old said.

For the past six years, the Colts have had a different starting quarterback every season than the year before, and that falls squarely on the GM. “This isn’t just about wins and losses, it’s about people, their jobs and their families,” Ballard gets profound.

“I’m just disappointed. Disappointed in our situation and that’s my fault.”

So will Ballard resign from his post? “I don’t run away from problems. We will get out of this situation together. We will all grow from it and I will get better,” he ruled out resigning.

Matt Ryan, who has failed to live up to expectations at the quarterback position as much as Ballard, has one year left on his contract. The Colts have the fourth pick in the upcoming NFL Draft.
