After weeks of drama surrounding running back Jonathan Taylor, things seem to have calmed down. The star player is expected to return to team practice soon.
Jonathan Taylor and the Indianapolis Colts may be going their separate ways after all – at least for now. Head coach Shane Steichen said in the aftermath of the first preseason game that Taylor will be part of team workouts in the coming weeks.
The running back has been pushing for a contract extension for weeks. The contract debate escalated to owner Jim Irsay, who then launched an all-out attack. A trade or dismissal were on the cards.
Taylor is currently still hampered by an ankle injury, which is expected to be cured by the time he returns to the pitch.
Without the superstar, the running game didn’t really get going in the game against the Bills. The Colts accumulated 96 yards on 31 attempts, but still scored two touchdowns. The longest run ended after nine yards.
The Colts take on the Bears next week as they host the Jacksonville Jaguars in their season opener.
