Houston Texans: Star rookie Denico Autry suspended by NFL

The Houston Texans will have to do without new signing Denico Autry for the time being. The pass rusher has been suspended by the NFL.

The Houston Texans are paying up to 20 million US dollars over the next two seasons for the services of veteran Denico Autry. However, the pass rusher will not be used – at least for the time being.

The 34-year-old veteran has been suspended for six games by the NFL. He confirmed this on social media.

The reason for the suspension is the use of banned performance-enhancing substances.

Texans: Autry apologizes

Autry, who has already collected 59 sacks in his career, issued a lengthy statement. The pass rusher claimed that he had never intentionally taken performance-enhancing substances in his entire career.

When he found out about the positive test, he immediately cooperated with the NFL. The reason for the positive test is said to be the intake of a drug containing a banned substance. Autry did not know about this.

He also wrote: “I apologize to the Texans, my teammates and the fans for any negative distraction this issue may cause. “
