The Tennessee Titans were supposed to play the Houston Texans on Saturday evening at 7:00 pm German time. But due to blackouts in the power supply, the kickoff is delayed.
Winter is currently gripping the US state of Tennessee and the capital Nashville with freezing temperatures.
With temperatures as low as minus 20 degrees Celsius, there were repeated power outages on Saturday and the authorities called on the population to reduce electricity consumption.
The Titans’ game against the Houston Texans was also affected. The game was supposed to start at 19:00 German time on Christmas Eve, but kickoff was delayed until 20:00.
The Titans wrote in an official statement that they would try to reduce the energy consumption around the stadium to a minimum. It said the game should not have a negative impact on the power supply for people in Nashville.
