Dominik Eberle set a franchise record in his first NFL game. The German was convincing in the win over the Los Angeles Chargers. Nevertheless, it could have been the only appearance for the Houston Texans.
Munich – Dominik Eberle has celebrated a successful debut in the NFL. The new kicker of the Houston Texans won with his team the game against the Los Angeles Chargers with 41:29.
Dominik Eberle convinces in NFL debut
With the Texans’ regular kicker – Ka’imi Fairbairn – placed on the Covid reserve list due to a positive coronation test, the native of Franconia was unexpectedly quick to make his first appearance. This season, Eberle has already signed with the Las Vegas Raiders and Carolina Panthers, but was only used in the preseason.
In his first regular season game in the NFL, the 25-year-old delivered a strong performance. He converted all five of his extra points and nailed two of three field goals. He missed a 52-yard attempt but hit a 25-yard and a 51-yard field goal.
After the game, the German thanked his team via Instagram: “Thanks to the veterans and the O-Line for taking this German kid in this week and helping him as much as they can.”
Especially nice: the 25-year-old immediately ensured a franchise record. Eberle is the first Texans player to make a field goal of 50 or more yards with his first kick.
The German received numerous congratulations via social networks. Even 1.FC Nürnberg – Eberle’s favourite club – congratulated him.

Despite his good performance, Eberle might have to wait for his next appearance. Should Ka’imi Fairbairn be fit again, the Texans should revert to their actual kicker.
