Denver Broncos: Russell Wilson coveted by three other teams

The Broncos made the race – but the Saints, among others, inquired intensively. In the end, Seattle’s GM reportedly even apologised

Munich/Denver – Russell Wilson has ushered in a new era with the Denver Broncos. After almost ten years with the Seattle Seahawks, the quarterback joined the Broncos.

However, prior to the quarterback’s trade, it wasn’t just those Broncos who were interested in the playmaker’s services, as is now being reported.

Saints, Giants and Commanders also wanted Wilson

According to “ESPN”, the New Orleans Saints, New York Giants and Washington Commanders have made intensive efforts to get Wilson from the Seahawks, with several phone calls reportedly made to all teams.

However, only Denver was considered for the 33-year-old quite early on. The Seahawks were originally unwilling to let Wilson go and blocked all trade offers until the quarterback personally asked General Manager John Schneider and Head Coach Pete Carroll for a trade.

“The Seahawks knew Wilson only wanted Denver, but left the other teams bidding to drive up the price,” the report said. In the aftermath, Schneider reportedly even apologized to the Saints for negotiating with them without giving them a chance to succeed.

At the conclusion of the NFL’s 1st day of play, both parties are also set to meet again, with the Broncos travelling to the Seahawks with Wilson on Tuesday night.
