During the game between the Denver Broncos and the Los Angeles Chargers on Game 6, Broncos linebacker Aaron Patrick was injured in overtime on a punt return. Now he’s suing the NFL and the Los Angeles Chargers, among others, over it.
Munich/Denver – The probability of getting injured on a punt return in the NFL is unfortunately relatively high. This also happened to linebacker Aaron Patrick during the game between the Denver Broncos and the Los Angeles Chargers.
In overtime, the Broncos special teamer tried to push returner DeAndre Carter of the Chargers out of the field. In the process, he collided with a person on the sideline. On the play, Patrick tore his ACL.
This is exactly why the 25-year-old filed a lawsuit with the California Supreme Court. The lawsuit is directed against the NFL, the Chargers, the Los Angeles Rams, the broadcaster “ESPN” and the company of Stan Kroenke, owner of the Rams, who owns the stadium.
Patrick is seeking damages. Because he entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent, he was supposed to earn only 825,000 dollars this year. Because of his injury, it’s even less than $500,000.
Whether Patrick has a chance of success is open. It is already certain that the trial will take place with a jury. When that will be is also still unknown.
