Denver Broncos: Javonte Williams wants to be fit for training camp after tearing cruciate ligament

Denver Broncos running back Javonte Williams says he is well on his way to a comeback. After tearing his anterior cruciate ligament in the preseason, he plans to be back in full action at training camp at the end of July.

Around nine months after tearing his anterior cruciate ligament, Denver Broncos running back Javonte Williams is right on schedule to make his NFL comeback. The 23-year-old plans to return to full action at Broncos training camp beginning in late July.

“That’s the plan. I feel ready to go,” Williams told reporters on Sunday. He said there have been no setbacks during his rehab. “Now it’s a matter of how the Broncos evaluate it,” he said, “Seeing how I feel, moving around, getting back to my speed, things like that. “

Williams impressed in rookie season 2021

Williams suffered the serious injury in week four of the preseason against the Las Vegas Raiders. Until his injury, he – as well as the entire Broncos offence – failed to live up to expectations, rushing for only 280 yards and no touchdowns in the three games.

He had amassed 1,219 scrimmage yards and scored seven touchdowns as a rookie in the 2021 season.

The Colorado franchise signed Samaje Perine from the Cincinnati Bengals in the offseason, but Williams is expected to continue to play a key role in the offense under new head coach Sean Payton.
