Denver Broncos: Heavy hit! Suspension for Kareem Jackson

Kareem Jackson has been suspended for four games by the NFL for unnecessary hardship. The Denver Broncos safety apparently plans to appeal.

Kareem Jackson has been suspended for four games by the league for unnecessary hardship. The Denver Broncos safety was ejected for hitting Green Bay Packers tight end Luke Musgrave in Sunday’s 19-17 win.

It was the second time this season. He was previously forced off the field early in Week 2 after a hit against Logan Thomas of the Washington Commanders.

As NFL insider Tom Pelissero reports, Jackson plans to appeal the penalty.

In total, Jackson collected four fines in 2023 for illegal hits; he has since accumulated about $90,000.

“On the play in question, you delivered a violent blow to the head/neck area of a defenseless receiver when you had time and space to avoid such contact. You could have made contact with your opponent within the rules, but chose not to,” Jon Runyan, NFL vice president of football operations, wrote in a letter to Jackson.

Broncos coach Sean Payton said Monday that the team will continue to work with him to avoid future violations.

Jackson will miss Denver in the coming weeks against the Kansas City Chiefs, Buffalo Bills, Minnesota Vikings and Cleveland Browns. In seven games this season, he has two interceptions, three passes defensed and 42 tackles.
