Denver Broncos: Dispute between Jerry Jeudy and NFL legend Steve Smith

NFL legend Steve Smith and Broncos receiver Jerry Jeudy may not be friends for the time being after a public dispute.

NFL legend Steve Smith and Broncos receiver Jerry Jeudy have provided entertainment off the field to start Week 6. In the lead-up to the “Thursday Night Game” between the Kansas City Chiefs and Denver (19-8), the two football stars exchanged words before Smith harshly criticised Jeudy in front of running TV cameras.

The former NFL star, who now works as a pundit for the NFL Network, had started the day with good intentions. Smith explained that he had recently called Jeudy a “JAG” (just another guy) in his podcast and now wanted to apologise for this statement to the Denver Broncos wide receiver.

However, the latter is said not to have been really interested in an apology from the 44-year-old. Videos on social media show Jeudy running past Smith, shouting at him and, according to Smith himself, insulting him.

The five-time Pro Bowler, however, was not going to take it lying down and launched into another “apology”.

“I’m sorry I said you were a “JAG,” an average wide receiver they used a first-round pick on and did nothing. I hope you show up today in a way you haven’t in the last few years” said a visibly angry Smith.

He continued, “So if you ever had a problem with ‘Agent 89,’ I’m sorry to say that you’re an average wide receiver that they won’t need at some point. “

But that wasn’t enough, the 44-year-old followed up with, “When teams call me to ask if they should trade for you, I’ll say, ‘No, don’t trade for Jerry Jeudy because he’s not mentally capable of handling constructive criticism.'”

On the field a few hours later, Jeudy had no answer. The 24-year-old managed just three receptions for 14 yards in his fifth loss of the season

Statistics that should certainly have confirmed Smith in his statements.
