The Denver Broncos continue to screw with the future of the team in their bye week. After Tim Patrick, Courtland Sutton is the next wide receiver to sign a long-term extension.
Munich/Denver – After the long-term contract extension of shooting star Tim Patrick, the Denver Broncos can keep the next offensive cornerstone in “Mile-High City” for the long term.
As the franchise confirmed on Monday, wide receiver Courtland Sutton has signed a new four-year contract.
This is worth a total of $60.8 million, of which Sutton is already guaranteed $34.9 million.
The 26-year-old was drafted in the second round by the Broncos in 2018 and will now receive a hefty pay raise. He was selected to the Pro Bowl in just his second NFL year and set a franchise record as the youngest Broncos player in history to play in the All-Star Game.
After suffering a torn ACL in the first game of last season, the receiver battled back this season and is putting up decent numbers with 617 receiving yards and two touchdowns so far.
Explosive offense
With the extensions of both receivers, the Broncos are set up strong offensively in the coming years. In addition to Sutton and Patrick, receiver super talent Jerry Jeudy is also under contract until at least 2023.
Tight end Noah Fant and running back Javonte Williams are also considered highly talented.
In the current season, the Broncos have a record of five wins and five losses. This puts them in last place in a highly competitive AFC West, but they still have every chance of reaching the playoffs this season.
