The contract poker between the Cincinnati Bengals and wide receiver Tee Higgins appears to be nearing its end.
According to several NFL insiders, Tee Higgins will sign the Bengals’ proffered franchise tag in the coming hours.
The signing is also reportedly tantamount to the receiver participating in training camp before the start of the season. The threat of a possible boycott of the pass receiver appears to have been averted.
However, Ian Rapoport adds that the 25-year-old is still open to a long-term contract extension.
According to spotrac.com, the one-year contract earns the pass receiver a salary of 21.8 million US dollars.
With Bengals WR Tee Higgins signing his franchise tag today, it means he’ll show up for training camp with his teammates. He’s open to an extension off the tag, and we shall see if it happens. But he’s now locked in and under contract. pic.twitter.com/86mhZSCqtp

Higgins was drafted 33rd overall by the Bengals in 2020 and developed into a reliable and popular target for star quarterback Joe Burrow during his first season.
In his four seasons so far, Higgins has rushed for 3,684 yards and 24 touchdowns. He reached the Super Bowl with the Bengals at the end of the 2021 season. However, Cincinnati narrowly lost this against the Los Angeles Rams.
