Cincinnati Bengals: Joe Burrow back at practice despite admonishment from Ja’Marr Chase

Joe Burrow is back at practice for the Cincinnati Bengals. Pictures show the quarterback running drills two weeks after his injury. Previously, a prominent teammate had advised him against a hasty return.

Cincinnati Bengals fans can breathe a sigh of relief as Joe Burrow is back at practice just under two weeks after straining his lower leg.

The “NFL Network” showed footage of the Bengals quarterback doing light running drills.

In addition, the 26-year-old is said to have already started throwing passes again.

The first pick in the 2020 draft had injured himself on an unassisted pass play shortly after training camp began in late July.

Original fears of a torn ACL or Achilles tendon were not confirmed, however.

Still, there is disagreement over whether Burrow should actually play in Cincinnati’s season opener on September 10 against the Cleveland Browns.

Chase opposes quick Burrow return

Wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase repeatedly made the case that the quarterback shouldn’t rush his return.

It would be enough if Burrow was back on the field in week five against the Arizona Cardinals, as it was more important for the team to have the playmaker fit so as not to jeopardise their big Super Bowl target for the season, Chase said.
