Chaos at the New York Jets: dispute with Aaron Rodgers? Trade of star receiver Garrett Wilson is on the cards

There seems to be a mismatch between the quarterback and the wide receiver. This could have consequences.

Will Aaron Rodgers still be the quarterback of the New York Jets in 2025? The three-year, $112.5 million contract he signed for the 2023 season also includes the upcoming season. However, not every teammate seems to want to continue playing with Rodgers.

According to NFL insider Ian Rapoport, wide receiver Garrett Wilson could be traded if Rodgers is still the Jets’ quarterback next year. “All is not well between Rodgers and Wilson,” Rapoport writes in his column on NFL.com.

“Wilson’s comments to reporters after last week’s loss to the Rams drew attention to a problem that has been brewing since training camp and needs to be addressed as soon as New York hires a new coach and GM.”

Wilson expressed frustration after the game against Los Angeles. “I’d like to be more involved, I love to impact the game, but people see it differently. It’s out of my control,” Wilson told reporters after catching six passes for 54 yards on seven targets.

Rapoport writes: “Behind closed doors, there were questions about whether Rodgers and Wilson could find common ground after they had an altercation during training camp. Although Wilson won’t say it publicly, those who know him well believe he is frustrated with the lack of respect under Rodgers and wonders what else he can do to repair the relationship.”

There have been trade requests for Wilson

Could a trade be the logical consequence? Wilson is still the Jets’ most effective pass receiver with 987 receiving yards.

New York has already received trade requests from other teams after signing Davante Adams in October. At the time, the Jets decided against it. However, a new general manager might make a different decision.

Rapoport reports that Wilson has not yet requested a trade. However, this could be a logical consequence if Rodgers remains the Jets’ quarterback.
