A lot of headwind for Sean McDermott!

The Buffalo Bills head coach has come under massive criticism after he made a reference to the horrific terrorist events of September 11, 2001 at a team meeting in 2019. He apologized to the team at the time. This week, he also publicly asked for forgiveness in front of the media.

Before the upcoming game at the Kansas City Chiefs, Andy Reid was asked about the issue. He knows McDermott from their time together at the Philadelphia Eagles, where they worked together from 1999 to 2010.

Reid was head coach at the time, McDermott was assistant coach in various roles.

Reid was asked whether he had sought contact with his former companion after the emerging criticism for the 9/11 comparison.

“None of us talk during the week. That’s just the way it is. We’re all so busy doing our thing,” said Reid, who nevertheless publicly jumped to McDermott’s side. “All I can tell you is that Sean McDermott is a damn good person. That’s what I know,” Reid said.

On Sunday, the Bills head to the Chiefs for their top game. With a 6-6 record, the playoffs are still in jeopardy.
