The Buffalo Bills have extended the contracts of Head Coach Sean McDermott and General Manager Brandon Beane early.
Both are now committed to the team from the American state of New York until 2027.
According to NFL insider Ian Rapoport, the extensions have been a done deal for some time and arguably provide more appropriate compensation for the successful duo.
Both McDermott and Beane joined the franchise ahead of the 2017/18 season and managed to rebuild the club into a title contender in that time.
Bills owner: “Love it “
The Bills released a statement from owner Terry Pegula on the new contracts. In it, he praised McDermott’s work ethic and leadership style: “He comes to the Bills every day and doesn’t ask anyone – players or coaches – to do more than they’re willing to do.”
Beane also got some warm words from the 72-year-old: “I know he likes to win, but I also know he hates to lose. He’s not afraid to say what he thinks and if he disagrees with something he says it, even to the owner. I love it.”
The 49-year-old McDermott won 62 of 97 games in his six years as head coach and even led the Bills to the AFC Championship Game in the 2020 season.
In the Beane/ McDermott era, Buffalo only missed the playoffs in the 2018 season and has the third-best winning percentage of any NFL team at 63.9 percent behind the Kansas City Chiefs and New Orleans Saints.
