Bills cornerback Hamlin raises awareness of CPR measures with tour

After suffering cardiac arrest during a game last season, Bills safety Damar Hamlin has kicked off a tour across the U.S. to raise awareness of cardiovascular resuscitation measures.

Damar Hamlin launched a tour across the US to raise awareness of cardiovascular resuscitation measures in Buffalo on Saturday. This is the first programme in the wake of his Chasing M’s Foundation.

The Buffalo Bills safety distributed 50 automated external defibrillators (AEDs) to local youth football teams. The 25-year-old will continue his tour of several cities, including his hometown of Pittsburgh and Cincinnati, where he suffered cardiac arrest and was resuscitated during a game last season against the Bengals.

“Chasing M’s Foundation will provide AEDs to sports and community groups to keep kids safe while they chase their dreams,” Hamlin said, “This programme is very important because it provides life-saving help to kids in their communities and on their sports fields.”

Hamlin’s foundation received millions of dollars in donations in the days after his life was saved by the Bills’ medical staff.

Training after Hamlin case: Rams coach resuscitates child

The increased awareness in dealing with such situations was also impressively demonstrated recently by the Rams’ defensive coordinator Raheem Morris.

The 46-year-old had the presence of mind to react when a three-year-old was in danger of drowning in a pool in Las Vegas and was fortunately resuscitated after the coach properly applied a defibrillator.

For Morris, his life-saving behaviour was also a credit to the Rams’ recent first aid classes. After Hamlin’s cardiac arrest, training was held league-wide to prepare for such situations.

“I’m thankful I knew what to do,” Morris told “ESPN. “

Damar Hamlin trains for NFL comeback

In addition to his tour, Hamlin is also working hard for his return to the biggest football league in the world.

“This incident changed my life, but it didn’t end my story. That’s why I’m here today to announce that I plan to return to the NFL,” the defensive player explained his comeback plans at a team press conference in April.

The Bills also announced that the safety was back with the team and participating in practice sessions.
