Munich/Baltimore – The NFL is mourning the death of Jaylon Ferguson.

The Baltimore Ravens linebacker passed away on Wednesday (June 22, 2022) at the age of just 26. His advisor Safarrah Lawson announced.

“It is with unfathomable sadness that we announce the passing of Jaylon Ferguson. The family asks for everyone’s prayers while providing privacy at this difficult time,” Lawson said. There is no word on the cause of death.

Third death of an active player this offseason

“We can only offer our deepest condolences as we mourn this life snuffed out far too soon,” read a statement from the Baltimore Ravens.

Ferguson is the third death in the current NFL offseason, following Dwayne Haskins and Jeff Gladney. They were all well under the age of 30.

In his three NFL seasons, Ferguson appeared in 38 games, recording 62 tackles as well as four and a half sacks and two passes defended. He did well in this year’s minicamp and was named by many Ravens insiders as one of the candidates for a breakout year.
