Baltimore Ravens: Lamar Jackson? Trade no longer out of the question

The Baltimore Ravens want to place Lamar Jackson with the franchise tag. Nevertheless, a mega-trade is apparently no longer out of the question.

It’s still unclear whether Lamar Jackson will play for the Baltimore Ravens next year. Around the Super Bowl, there now seems to be movement in the personnel debate.

According to NFL insiders Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero, the franchise definitely plans to franchise tag the quarterback – should both parties fail to agree on a long-term contract in the coming weeks. The deadline for the franchise tag is March 7.

Jackson continues to demand a mega-contract – Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson’s contract, which pays a guaranteed $230 million over five years, is probably considered the benchmark.

With the franchise tag, Jackson would earn a whopping 32.4 million US dollars in the coming season – but at the same time, the Ravens could still negotiate a trade with another team in the coming months. According to the report, there is no shortage of interested parties – with a “multitude of draft picks”, the franchise is said to be willing to talk in the meantime.

A few weeks ago, Head Coach John Harbaugh was still talking about a “200 percent” chance of Jackson staying.
