In the game against the Houston Texans, Lamar Jackson broke the record for the most rushing yards by a quarterback. The 27-year-old was emotional afterwards.
In the 31-2 win over the Houston Texans, Lamar Jackson not only celebrated the next victory for his Baltimore Ravens, but also a personal record.
The 27-year-old has 6,110 yards and thus holds the record for the most rushing yards by a quarterback in NFL history.
The place in the sun was previously held by Michael Vick. The quarterback, who particularly flourished with the Atlanta Falcons and Philadelphia Eagles, accumulated 6,109 yards in 143 games.
Jackson needed only 102 games to set the new record and is likely to significantly expand the lead over the next few years.
Jackson on Vick: “One of my favorite players”
“It doesn’t feel real, to be honest,” Jackson is quoted on the team’s website. “I thank God. I’m grateful because this is a record that was held for a long time by Michael Vick, one of my favorite players. It’s just awesome.”
A 48-yard touchdown run paved the way for a record-breaking night. On that run, Jackson also set a personal best.
He was clocked at just over 34 km/h, faster than at any time in his career.
