According to general manager Trent Baalke, the Jacksonville Jaguars are thinking about trading the number one pick. The only question is which franchise is showing interest?
Munich – Speaking to reporters at the NFL Combine, Jacksonville general manager Trent Baalke commented on a possible trade of the No. 1 pick. Baalke said they are always open to a possible trade for the top pick.
“We have to be ready for anything. To say we’re 100 per cent not going to give the pick away or we’re probably going to trade him is wrong,” the general manager said, according to “NFL.com” . Instead, the Jaguars would rather wait and see what happens to see if a constellation makes sense.
NFL draft 2022: Probably no quarterback among first ten picks
Whether a trade takes place depends above all on the other teams. Because the question is which team would even be interested in the first pick. Last season, quarterback talent was in hot demand. The top three picks were made up of playmakers Trevor Lawrence, Zach Wilson and Trey Lance. That’s why the Jaguars didn’t trade their first overall pick in the 2021 draft because they wanted to sign Lawrence.
This year, the situation is different: Experts don’t see a college quarterback among the first ten picks in the 2022 NFL Draft. Instead, the Jaguars are looking more at an offensive lineman or pass rusher, according to CBS. Accordingly, the other teams are still showing relatively little interest in the top pick.
