Andrew Luck: Indianapolis Colts want “tampering” by Washington Commanders investigated.

Andrew Luck was reportedly an issue with the Washington Commanders last year. The Indianapolis Colts now apparently want to have an investigation into what is true about the rumors and whether the Commanders illegally engaged with Luck

The spat over the personnel of Andrew Luck is moving on to the next round. After a report indicated the Washington Commanders were looking to bring the former Colts quarterback out of retirement, the Colts are now apparently looking to launch an official investigation into the Commanders.

Indianapolis Colts want to investigate tampering violation

The 33-year-old Luck ended his career in 2019, but had three years remaining on his contract in Indianapolis at the time. The contract was terminated after he left, but that means the Colts would own his rights if he ever decides to return to the NFL.

According to “ESPN,” the Colts are interested in finding out what is true about the rumor surrounding Luck and the Commanders and whether there was indeed a violation of so-called “tampering.” Accordingly, they have officially requested an investigation from the NFL.

Irsay warns other teams

“Should an NFL team attempt to contact Andrew Luck (or anyone in his immediate circle) to play for their franchise, it would be a clear violation of the league’s tampering policy,” Colts owner Jim Irsay wrote on Twitter.

Preceded by a report that the Washington Commanders had allegedly tried to bring the former Colts quarterback out of retirement prior to this past season.

While the NFL’s rule on this is not clearly spelled out, direct contact with a player is not required to trigger a violation. A recent example is the Miami Dolphins, who lost their first-round pick in this year’s draft because of illicit talks about commitments from Tom Brady and Sean Payton.

Away from the furor surrounding him, Luck himself, after ending his career at age 29, had always stated unequivocally that he had no plans to return to the NFL.
