AFC East clash: The Buffalo Bills’ unfinished business with the New York Jets.

When the Buffalo Bills host the New York Jets, the focus isn’t just on the playoff race. The Bills are looking to redeem a disgrace that wasn’t that long ago

Munich/Buffalo – The signs before the AFC East clash could hardly be more different.

While the Buffalo Bills (9-3) have finally turned the corner and won their last three games without their injured star defender Von Miller, the New York Jets (7-5) seem to be running out of steam before the decisive weeks of the regular season.

Head coach Robert Saleh’s team has won only two of its last five games. And that after the Jets started the season sensationally with five wins and only two losses.

Jets still reeling from strong start

They are still reaping the benefits of that strong start. Because even after 13 days of play, they are on course for the postseason. In the current playoff picture, they would face the Kansas City Chiefs as the No. 7 seed in the AFC in the Wild Card Round

But to keep that last ticket after the final game on January 8, they still need to pick up a win or two.

New York’s hopes are pinned on quarterback Mike White, who replaced Zach Wilson at the playmaker position and made a strong impression against the Chicago Bears with three touchdowns in a 31-10 win.

Running back Michael Carter is also back after missing the 22-27 loss to the Minnesota Vikings with an ankle injury.

The Jets can rely on their defence anyway, as they proved in their first meeting with the Bills on 6 November.

Allen has bad memories of NY

Bills quarterback Josh Allen had five sacks in this game and threw two interceptions. In the end, the score was 17-20, a bitter and unexpected defeat.

Since then, however, the Bills have only lost one game, which is mainly due to the fact that Allen has found his outstanding form again.

The Bills as a team have also found their way out of their mini-crisis and are back in the playoff race where they prefer to see themselves: in first place in the AFC, which would guarantee them a place in the Divisional Round.

A win would also be particularly important because things don’t get any easier in the next few weeks. With the Miami Dolphins and the Cincinnati Bengals, Josh Allen and his team still have to face two tough opponents.
