The NFL could penalize the Atlanta Falcons for illegal collusion in the Kirk Cousins case. An NFL insider brings up a swap of first-round picks

In the NFL, franchise executives are only allowed to talk and negotiate with potential new players or coaches at certain times. The so-called anti-tampering policy.

The Atlanta Falcons have probably not adhered to it.

In the case of Kirk Cousin, the franchise probably sought contact with the former Vikings quarterback a day too early. This could now have consequences.

NFL insider Mike Florio from “Pro Football Talk” is talking about a possible swap of first-round picks between the two franchises. Currently, Atlanta would draft at number eight. The Vikings would go eleventh

A similar scenario occurred last season. During the draft, the Eagles and Cardinals announced they were trading two of their draft picks. Philadelphia received the 66th pick, Arizona the 94th and a fifth-round pick in the upcoming draft.

The incident was also preceded by a “tampering” scandal in which Cardinals officials sought contact with then-Eagles coordinator Jonathan Gannon – now head coach at Arizona – too early. Both franchises solved the problem in consultation with the NFL through the draft trade.

The NFL is still investigating the Kirk Cousins incident. A decision and thus a possible pick swap could not be made until the day of the draft
