NFL – New York Jets: Aaron Rodgers surprises with statement on future

Aaron Rodgers wants to celebrate his comeback next season after tearing his Achilles tendon. He has now surprised us with a statement about his general plans

Aaron Rodgers is aiming for his comeback. After tearing his Achilles tendon, the quarterback superstar wants to make his second attempt with the New York Jets in 2024. The first was ended after four games due to injury.

The rehab is apparently going according to plan. “I didn’t get back on the training field until late in the season and couldn’t reach top speed sprinting, but I’ve done well in rehab from the start and feel really good,” Rodgers said in the “Look into it” podcast.

And then he added: “I hope I can play for another two, three or four years, but you have to have a bit of luck as well. “

Four years? That’s new.

He had recently stated that he was aiming for two more seasons. Should Rodgers last that long, he would play until the 2027 season. He would then be 43 years old at the start of the season and would celebrate his 44th birthday during the season.

Whether he would then still be playing for the Jets is even more up in the air. Without him, the Jets would miss the 2023 playoffs by a significant margin, which would put even more pressure on coach Robert Saleh. If Rodgers is fit, 2024 will be a do-or-die season for all sides
