Shortly before the Super Bowl, there is bad news for Kansas City’s superstar Patrick Mahomes. His father has been arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol – not for the first time
With just over a week to go before the Super Bowl against the San Francisco 49ers, Kansas City Chiefs star quarterback Patrick Mahomes has some unpleasant news in his personal life.
As the New York Post reports, Mahomes’ father, Patrick Mahomes Sr., was arrested on Saturday evening in Texas for driving under the influence of alcohol. According to an affidavit obtained by the Post, Mahomes Sr. was caught with an open can of Coors beer in the center console. He had previously been noticed with his driving, traveling significantly slower than the other cars.
He told police that he had “had a few beers while watching a game at a local bar” when asked why he had been drinking while driving, according to the affidavit.
“Based on the totality of the circumstances,” the arresting officer wrote, citing probable cause, “I believed that Patrick was noticeably impaired while driving a motor vehicle in a public place. “
This is not the first time the 53-year-old has attracted negative attention in this regard.
According to the Post, it was his third drink-driving offense. According to police reports, he was also summoned in 2008 and 2019. He pleaded guilty the last time and served 40 days on weekends in the county jail, according to court documents
