NFL: Why Bill Belichick didn’t get a head coaching job for 2024

Bill Belichick didn’t get a head coaching job for 2024. A report now reveals the reasons.

The head coaching jobs for the upcoming NFL season have been awarded, and coaching legend Bill Belichick has come away empty-handed. According to “The Athletic”, the reasons why he did not find a new job after leaving the New England Patriots go deeper than the mere fact that Belichick will soon be 72 years old.

According to the article, the Atlanta Falcons, with whom he had several conversations, were concerned about how the longtime Pats coach would fit into the team.

The fact that Belichick is used to “total control” of the team due to his time in New England – and that he has a “frosty relationship” with Atlanta president Rich McKay – were also likely concerns.

Falcons executives reportedly worried about whether Belichick would fit into their established leadership group.

But that’s not all: “Sources at several teams that have just hired a new head coach expressed varying degrees of relief that Belichick is not joining their team,” the report continues.

“Some were concerned that Belichick would reshape the leadership structure and order of command. “

Belichick: Poor relationship with Mac Jones

In addition, some franchises are said to have been concerned about how the defensive-minded Belichick managed the Patriots offense after Brady’s departure.

What’s more, the fractured relationship with quarterback Mac Jones is also said to have been a cause for concern. According to MassLive.com, the coaching legend has not spoken to the Patriots playmaker since benching him in week twelve.

Additionally, the report suggests that multiple sources believe Patriots owner Robert Kraft might have been “persuaded” to keep Belichick if he had “committed to changing certain strategies in personnel, roster construction and his offensive vision.” However, the soon-to-be 72-year-old “would not bend that far.”
