The San Francisco 49ers have become the first team to qualify for the NFL playoffs.
The Green Bay Packers’ 22-24 loss to the New York Giants secured the 49ers’ ticket to the postseason; San Francisco had already clinched a 28-16 win over the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday.
This is the 49ers’ third playoff appearance in a row. In the 2019 season, they lost to the Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl.
Head coach Kyle Shanahan’s team has a 10-3 record after Week 14 and also has a good chance of clinching the number one seed in the NFC after the Philadelphia Eagles lost 13:33 to the Dallas Cowboys, as the direct comparison with “Philly” went to San Francisco and the Cowboys were also defeated.
First place in the conference would guarantee a bye week in the first round of the playoffs as well as home games in the Divisional Round and the Conference Championship Game.
