The Las Vegas Raiders have pulled the emergency brake and fired both Head Coach Josh McDaniels and General Manager Dave Ziegler. For wide receiver Davante Adams, the time was ripe for change.

Wide receiver Davante Adams is hoping for a fresh start with the Las Vegas Raiders after the dismissals of head coach Josh McDaniels and general manager Dave Ziegler.

“It was time for change either way,” Adams said after the first training sessions under interim coach Antonio Pierce, which were immediately characterized by a completely different atmosphere and more fun.

“We just want to bring in a breath of fresh air and revitalize the team a bit. I think that’s the attitude we have,” said Adams, who emphasized, however, that there was no reason to celebrate the dismissals.

They’re just trying to “have fun and enjoy our time on this team because I think when we talk to each other, it all felt too much like work and we weren’t having enough fun,” said the 30-year-old.

Adams in particular was far from having fun on the pitch recently. He made little effort to hide his anger about recent performances in public

The star receiver was only a shadow of his best days, the 14:26 defeat at the Detroit Lions on Monday was the negative highlight. He was only able to catch one ball from weak quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo.

Davante Adams commits to the Raiders

Adams was therefore increasingly linked to a possible trade up until last Tuesday’s deadline, but the Raiders continued to consistently deny it. And Adams also makes it clear that he has no thoughts of leaving.

“I’ve said it countless times: I want to be a Raider,” Adams said: “So I’m going to do everything I can and work hard to make sure we move forward.”

Whether he can really put up better numbers in the coming weeks, however, remains to be seen. The Raiders will start rookie quarterback Aidan O’Connell on Sunday night (10:25 p.m. CET) against the New York Giants.
