The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have Baker Mayfield and Kyle Trask battling for the starting quarterback job. Linebacker Lavonte David goes into raptures at the thought of Mayfield.
Who will be the starting quarterback for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers next season? That question has not yet been finalised and both Baker Mayfield and Kyle Trask are being considered.
Tampa linebacker Lavonte David is apparently enthusiastic about Mayfield – at least that is what statements he made to the radio station “Sirius XM NFL Radio” suggest. He said he likes the 28-year-old’s approach and is excited to see what else the competition for the quarterback position brings out of him. “
“Obviously Baker is already ‘the guy’ and he’s expected to deliver on what everyone expects of him.”
He continued, “Baker is great for our locker room. I like the way Baker conducts himself, he comes in with a mentality, ready to work. Everyone loves him already – and the way he approaches training is great to see. “

So there are “great things to see from Baker” and he’s a guy “who’s done it before. He’s led his team to the playoffs and accomplished some great things. “
Many observers consider Mayfield the favourite for the starter’s job, but the team has already made it clear that Trask also has the opportunity to earn it.
For comparison, while Mayfield has five years of experience as an NFL starter, Trask has played in just one game since being drafted in 2021.
But despite the competitive nature of the situation, David says the two playmakers are taking it in stride and working together as comrades. “During minicamp, it was really fun to see these guys really enjoy it and help each other out. That’s definitely something I like to see as well. “
