Denver Broncos: Head coach Sean Payton trolls new quarterback addition Ben DiNucci

Quarterback Ben DiNucci was signed by the Denver Broncos to backup Russell Wilson after a strong season with the Seattle Sea Dragons in the XLF. However, after a pick six in one of his first practices, there was a verbal spike from Head Coach Sean Payton.

Quarterback Ben DiNucci earned his return to the NFL with a strong season in the XFL for the Seattle Sea Dragons. He is pencilled in as Russell Wilson’s backup with the Denver Broncos. In ten games for Seattle, the 26-year-old posted a strong 2671 passing yards, 20 passing touchdowns and recorded ten interceptions.

In one of his first practices with the team, however, the playmaker directly afforded himself a pick six and was brought up for it by head coach Sean Payton. “You know he owns Walmart. If it doesn’t work out here, I’m sure there’s a greeter position somewhere in one of his shops,” the 59-year-old joked.

DiNucci only signed with the Cowboys in the NFL so far

DiNucci was drafted in the seventh round by the Dallas Cowboys in the 2020 draft and signed a four-year, $3.39 million contract at the time, according to “Spotrac”.

However, he was released after just one year, but signed a contract with the franchise’s practice squad a few days later. After signing a future contract in early 2022, he was then released again in Dallas last August.
