NFL Combine: Anthony Richardson breaks two quarterback records at once

Anthony Richardson of the Florida Gators is becoming more and more of a contender for the top pick in this year’s draft. The 21-year-old from the Florida Gators sets a quarterback record in the Vertical Jump at the Combine.

Anthony Richardson could be the big winner at the Combine this year.

Actually, quarterbacks Bryce Young and C.J. Stroud were considered contenders for the top pick, but the Florida Gators signal caller first impressed during interviews behind closed doors Friday and now with his athletic ability.

The 21-year-old set a new record for quarterbacks on Saturday with 40.5 inches (102.87 centimetres) in the Vertical Jump, a jump from a standing height. With a body weight of 111 kilograms and a height of 1.93 metres, a remarkable mark. In addition, he also secured the record in the standing long jump – 3.28 metres!

He also ran a strong 4.44 seconds in the 40-yard dash. Since 2000, only seven quarterbacks have ever stayed under a time of 4.5 seconds. Richardson is the first to do so at a body weight of more than 230 pounds (104.3 kilograms).

Richardson is considered a rather immature quarterback, but he is brimming with talent and potential. He should have a say in the race for the top pick.
