Green Bay Packers: General manager Brian Gutekunst awaits signal from Aaron Rodgers

The Green Bay Packers and Aaron Rodgers still don’t know if they will work together next season. As general manager Brian Gutekunst revealed, he hasn’t heard from Rodgers since the end of the season. For him, all options are open.

Is he staying or going?

That’s the question the entire NFL world has been asking about Aaron Rodgers in recent weeks. The 39-year-old has been flirting with retirement on and off for many months. Most recently, he retreated into a dark room for publicity.

He has not spoken to many people, however. Not even with his general manager Brian Gutekunst.

GM Gutekunst: “All options are on the table “

He confirmed as much at his press conference on the sidelines of the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis. “He’s a great player,” Gutekunst said. “But we haven’t had any conversations yet. And until we do, all options are on the table,” the 49-year-old continued.

“In the end, we want what’s best for the Green Bay Packers and what’s best for Aaron Rodgers, that’s what we’re working towards.” Explicit trade negotiations have reportedly not yet taken place, yet Gutekunst confirmed loose talks with other teams.

“I talk to all teams at all times,” he said with a smile. “We haven’t talked about trades – yet. “

Love “ready” for starter post

Jordan Love, currently still backup to Aaron Rodgers, received praise from his boss. “He’s absolutely ready to be a starting quarterback,” Gutekunst explained.

The only question is where. Love is likely to keep a close eye on the Aaron Rodgers situation.

Meanwhile, a decision in the near future is not to be expected. Gutekunst and Rodgers, as well as head coach Matt LaFleur, have not spoken to each other since the end of the season and will do so before a decision is leaked.
