Are the Green Bay Packers fed up with their superstar Aaron Rodgers? At least that’s what one longtime Packers reporter is claiming. According to this, there’s a lot of simmering in the franchise.
The signs for Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers are apparently pointing to goodbye. At least that’s what Packers reporter Bob McGinn is convinced of. On the “Go Long Pod” podcast, McGinn reports on a completely fractured relationship between the two sides.
“They’re done with Rodgers,” McGinn said, citing a source “with first-hand knowledge” among others: “He’s not coming back. They’re disgusted with him and through with him. They’ll move on. “
Aaron Rodgers only Love replacement even if he stays?
So McGinn is “absolutely convinced” Rodgers won’t be a starter in Green Bay next season – in part because the franchise believes in a future with Jordan Love as the new quarterback.
CEO Mark Murphy as well as general manager Brian Gutekunst and head coach Matt LaFleur are of the opinion that Rodgers is not working hard enough. As a result, they said, he didn’t enter the 2022 season in the shape he needed to be and neglected offseason workouts.
Even if Rodgers, whose contract in Green Bay runs until 2025, insisted on staying in Green Bay, McGinn said he would only be Love’s replacement in the future.
Aaron Rodgers having a torrid 2022 season
The now 39-year-old Rodgers disappointingly missed the playoffs with the Packers last season. His quarterback rating of 91.1 in the 2022 regular season was a personal negative record since he became the starting quarterback in Green Bay in the 2008 season. After the season ended, he and the franchise left a decision on the future open.
Most recently, Rodgers caused a stir by announcing his intention to reconsider his future path in four days of absolute obscurity.
