The week before the Super Bowl is all about the Pro Bowl. German star Amon-Ra St. Brown is also part of the action. In the Best Catch Challenge, fans have the unique opportunity to vote the Detroit Lions’ wide receiver into the final.

The week before the Super Bowl traditionally belongs to the Pro Bowl, the NFL’s all-star game.

After criticism of the event had piled up in the past few years (prominent players had increasingly renounced participation, moreover, the enthusiasm of the fans continued to decline), the NFL is trying to revive the Pro Bowl with an innovative programme.

The programme also includes the Best Catch Challenge, in which numerous superstars perform unique and, above all, creative catches, similar to the NBA dunk contest. Fans can actively co-determine the result of the challenge via Twitter voting, which is also worthwhile from a German perspective.

With Amon-Ra St. Brown, a German NFL professional is in the Pro Bowl for the first time this year. He will face top-class competition in the Best Catch Challenge: In addition to the Detroit Lions’ wide receiver, Justin Jefferson, Stefon Diggs and Patrick Surtain II are three other well-known names who will be doing the honours.

In a swimming pool, the pass receiver performs two strong catches, once using a trampoline to somersault and then catching the ball safely in flight. Thanks to the large pool of water, the landing is much more pleasant than on a normal NFL field.

And here’s where you come in: with the combination “BestCatch” and the Twitter handle of the wide receiver (@amonra_stbrown), you can vote directly for the Lions star on Twitter and vote him into the finals of the Challenge.

One player from each conference will advance to the grand final, which will be held on Sunday.

However, it will not be the fans who decide the final winner, but a top-class jury.
