For weeks now, Amon-Ra St. Brown has been delivering consistently for the Detroit Lions and has been a major factor in the team’s current run of success. Quarterback Jared Goff knows that, too, and he’s been raving about it.
Munich – Jared Goff has started singing the praises of Amon-Ra St. Brown in preparation for this season. After Game 13, the Detroit Lions quarterback is still warbling – and a little louder with each game.
“He’s unbelievable,” Goff said after the recent 40-14 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars. That’s when St. Brown shined with 114 yards and two touchdowns, catching 11 of 12 passes.
“He’s so tough and he has great hands. He’s one of the best players I’ve ever seen and he does everything. In the run game, in the pass game,” said Goff, who also praised the 23-year-old’s blocking skills. “He’s not the biggest guy in the world, but he sticks his nose in there and blocks for us,” Goff said.
Amon-Ra St. Brown: The Bulldog gives Goff a lot of confidence
The bottom line is that a player like St. Brown “gives him so much confidence. He’s a cool guy, a bulldog and a guy I’m lucky enough to play with, and I hope I can play with him for a long time. “
St. Brown has 830 yards and five touchdowns after eleven appearances this season, plus he ran for 83 more yards. His 76 receptions rank him seventh among receivers, and he is 14th in yards. He is on pace to pulverize his rookie stats from last year.
Amon-Ra St. Brown: Strong Stats
But don’t forget: St. Brown was injured in the early part of the season and missed one game, plus he was only partially used in two other games. 1:6 was the Lions’ record after eight matchdays.
In the meantime, St. Brown is fully fit again – and the Lions are on the road to success. In the past five games, he has led the Lions in targets, receptions and receiving yards.
He is a major factor in why the team is now 5-7.
“I can’t stress enough how confident I feel throwing him the ball and how important he is to our team,” Goff said.
