“PointsBet” itself said in a statement that it was in contact with Brees and his team and would monitor things as they progressed. The betting provider did not make any further comments. Nick Underhill of “neworleansfootball.com”, however, issued a brief update on Brees: “He’s okay.”
Katherine Terrell of “ESPN” confirmed Brees’ condition in a tweet: “I’ve written to him. He’s fine and wasn’t directly struck by lightning. “
I just texted Drew Brees. He said he’s good and that he did not get struck by lightning.

Brees posted a tweet earlier this week declaring he was “looking forward to a flight to a top secret location to film a commercial for PointsBet”. The commercial is believed to have been filmed on the Catatumbo River – a region where lightning is said to be not uncommon.
