NFL in Munich: Kansas City Chiefs revealed as next team by billboard?

The first NFL regular season game on German soil is history. The focus is now on next year. Which team will then be at home in Munich is not yet fixed. But there are indications that it could be the Kansas City Chiefs. Among other things, a billboard at Munich Airport.

Munich – German NFL fans showed their best side at the first game of the regular season on German soil.

Not only did the supporters in the Allianz Arena celebrate the exciting game between the Seattle Seahawks and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (16:21), they also celebrated themselves.

It is already clear: Munich will host the NFL again in 2024 at the latest. But which team will be the guest then? Nothing is official yet, but rumours and indications are growing that it will be the Kansas City Chiefs.

Chiefs in Munich as early as 2023?

The venue already “revealed” this itself. On one of the billboards around the airport in Munich, Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce could be seen with the big headline “Coming Soon”. In addition to the Chiefs and the Bucs, the New England Patriots and Carolina Panthers have also acquired marketing rights for Germany.

In addition, there are increasing rumours that Germany could be home to two games in 2023. Since the Estadio Azteca in Mexico City is being rebuilt for the 2026 World Cup, no NFL game can take place there. Munich is likely to be a replacement. Commissioner Roger Goodell hinted at that on Saturday, talking about “at least” four games for Germany by 2025.

That would mean that both Frankfurt, the other designated NFL home in Germany, and Munich would have to host a game. Currently, it is assumed that the Patriots will play in Frankfurt in 2023 and the Chiefs Munich. Both teams have nine home games next year.

In that case, the billboard would fit all too well.
