Commanders owner Dan Snyder is putting the sale of his franchise on the table. Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos and hip-hop mogul Jay-Z are reportedly bringing themselves into the conversation as potential buyers.
Munich – According to several media reports, Amazon founder Jeff Bezos is said to be interested in buying the Washington Commanders. According to the “Washington Post” and “Bloomberg”, the fourth richest person in the world is said to be considering a purchase together with music giant Jay-Z.
The reports come just a day after Commanders owner Dan Snyder said he and his wife had hired Bank of America to explore a sale of the team. However, a spokesperson for the franchise previously told “CNN” that they “have no comment on who has or has not shown interest in buying.”
Bezos and Jay-Z also did not comment on the matter.
Both sides, however, already have deep roots in the sport. The rapper was a shareholder in the NBA team Brooklyn Nets and his sports management company Roc Nations Sports has several NFL professionals under contract. Amazon, on the other hand, has a new streaming contract with the NFL since this season and exclusively shows the Thursday Night Games on “Prime Video”.
