For Russell Wilson the return was doubly unpleasant. First, he lost with the Denver Broncos to the Seahawks. And he got booed, too. The quarterback superstar is still feeling all kinds of love, though.

Munich – Russell Wilson definitely imagined his return to Seattle differently. But only in terms of sports. The Denver Broncos quarterback knew in advance that there might be some interpersonal tension.

And so it came to pass. The Seattle crowd, known as passionate, mercilessly booed the man who had been responsible for the Seahawks’ game for ten years.

Wilson had months to prepare for the moment. The fact that he lost 16-17 with his Broncos undoubtedly spoiled his mood. The boos, however, did not.

Russell Wilson didn’t expect applause

“No, it didn’t bother me,” Wilson said. “This is a hostile environment. It’s always been that way. I didn’t expect them to applaud once in a while,” joked Wilson, who turned in an appealing performance himself. He completed 29 of his 42 passes, threw for 340 yards and a touchdown.

He pointed out that he gave his all every day during his time in Seattle and that Seattle had been “incredible” for him. I have great teammates on the other side of the field that I love more than anything and I gave them everything. They gave me everything they had,” Wilson said, “Tonight was special, on the other side than I’m used to, but it’s still a place I’ve always loved.”

God has now taken him somewhere else, Wilson said, “I’m excited about where we’re going. So I’m just thankful,” he said.

Russell Wilson: No grudge against coach

The quarterback doesn’t hold it against his coach that rookie head coach Nathaniel Hackett opted for a 63-yard field goal attempt by Brandon McManus on fourth down with 20 seconds left to play at the Seahawks’ 46-yard line instead of letting Wilson try to get better field position and another first down.

“I believe in Coach Hackett,” Wilson said. “I believe in what we’re doing. I don’t think it was the wrong decision either,” Wilson stressed.
